2561st Buddha Punima Celebrations

Prayer meeting will be held in the Buddha Gallery, National Musuem on May 10th, 2017.

All are cordially invited.

YMBA infused a new thinking by introducing a question and answer session during its Vaisak celebrations in 2016. The Association has been organising the Vaisak function, with the active cooperation of the management and staff of the National Museum, for the last 35 years. The need to change the format arose from the fact that the youth of today needs to understand Lord Buddha's teachings which are based on scientific and rational thought, and are in sync with the modern times. Secondly it was felt that mere extolling the HIS virtues do not make enough sense if these were not demonstrated in practical day to day life.

We are sure that the endeavour, though in its initial stage, will definitely leave a mark on the young minds in terms of understanding the Dhamma in the times to come. YMBA intends to continue with this experiment, for some time and would certainly review it, to see if any course correction is required or not.

It is the endeavour of your Association to nurture it as has been for the last three decades, keeping it a pristine Association-devoid of any political platform and caste politics and to promote goodwill and harmony amongst the followers of Lord Buddha and to carry forward the message of empowerment of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution.

The main objectives of YMBA are:
  • To provide facilities for, and to foster the study and propagation of the buddha Dhamma
  • To encourage the practical observance of the Buddha Dhamma.
  • To promote unity and co-operation among Buddhists.
  • To advance the moral, culture, physical and social welfare of Buddhists.
  • To promote the interests of Buddhism.
